LeAp, (Learning through an Expanded Arts Program) is extremely excited to once again host the free year long Afterschool Program here at MS 447. You can find the fall schedule below.
LeAp Afterschool provides an arts-in-education based curriculum that is hands-on, interdisciplinary, and project based. Youth leadership and community engagement is also cultivated through club activities that engage in community action or service projects. In our program students will participate in Arts, Technology and Athletic activities. Students will also get the opportunity to showcase their work through art galleries, healthy competition, performances, and more.
Our Teaching Artists and Activity Specialists value a diverse educational experience and have special skills and expertise in their respective disciplines. As an Afterschool participant, your child can take advantage of the wide range of both recreational and enrichment activities that we have to offer. Those activities include, but are not limited to: Theater, Dance, Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Arts, Music, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, and various other club choices .LeAp afterschool is a city funded free program and your child’s regular participation is crucial to our stability. Attendance is taken daily, so it is important that your child shows up consistently. Snacks are served daily.
The program will run Monday-Friday from 2:45pm-5:30pm, with dismissal at 5:30pm Monday-Thursday, and at 5pm on Friday. Program dates are September 16th, 2024 – June 13th, 2025. LeAp Afterschool also partners with MS 447 afterschool activities such as: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Student Council & Wolfpress. If your child is participating in any of those activities you must aLao fill out the LEAP application.Thank you to those who have already submitted applications they are being processed.
