The MS 447 PTA Board would like to warmly welcome you and your family to our school. In addition to your child joining MS 447, you are joining our community. You’ll be spending an exciting, though brief, three years with us. We’d like to encourage you to get involved with the PTA from the start.
Middle school helps children develop greater independence. As your child takes a greater sense of control over their education, some parents describe feeling less connected to their middle school community than they did their elementary school. One way to offset that is to participate in our middle school PTA activities. We have a fantastic (and fun!) PTA Executive Board. We work closely with the MS 447 administration and they are incredibly supportive and communicative. You’ll get to know the school and other MS 447 families, and you’ll be given the opportunity to support the staff and our children, and share your own ideas and experiences.
The PTA hosts and assists with events and fundraisers throughout the year to support our amazing Exploration program, classroom activities, student extracurriculars, and school trips, to ensure every child has the opportunity to experience all that MS 447 has to offer. Please join us in these efforts. You can rest assured that we are committed to working efficiently.
Opportunities range from volunteering for a couple of hours at a merch sale, to chaperoning an Exploration field trip, to joining the Spring Auction committee, to attending a monthly PTA General Meeting, or attending a PTA meeting and acting as a translator for other parents.
If you’d like to speak to me about other ways to get involved, please email ptaMS447@gmail.com. And be sure to sign up for Konstella at https://www.konstella.com/ to receive PTA communications (additional instructions below). (For any Konstella-related questions, please email technologyms447@gmail.com.)
