8th Grade Supply List

Dear 8th Grade Families,

Welcome to your 8th grade year at MS 447!  Students’ preparedness for class plays a key role in their academic success.  Below is a list of all of the required materials for eighth grade content classes.  Please be aware that because 8th grade students take different talent classes, these teachers may request additional classroom materials. We thank you for your support in helping the teaching staff at MS 447 do their best to meet your child’s needs and allow look forward to another successful year!

School-wide Supplies

  • Reusable water bottle

  • One combination lock  

  • USB/Flash Drive

  • Agenda book (Provided by MS 447 – please send $5 on the first day of school!)

  • Manual pencil sharpener (that catches its own shavings)

  • Many #2 pencils, and pens in blue/black ink! (ENOUGH for the whole year!)

Science

  • Pencils and Sharpener

  • Colored Pencils (for diagrams in notes)

  • Folder

  • Section in binder

  • Loose leaf paper

Spanish

  • 1 notebook OR a section in a binder

  • 1 folder

  • Loose leaf paper

  • Pens and pencils

ELA

  • 1 composition (marble) notebook

  • 2 folders with  pockets and center clips

  • Loose leaf paper for the year

  • Pencils, pens (black or blue ink only), personal sharpener, highlighter

  • Post its

Math

  • 2 folders with pockets

  • 3 graph paper notebooks 

  • Pencils with erasers and sharpener

  • AAA batteries for graphing calculator (Algebra 1 students ONLY)

  • TI-84 PlusC Graphing Calculator (optional) (Algebra 1 students ONLY)

Social Studies

  • Section in binder

  • Loose leaf

  • 2 folders

  • Pencils, Pens and personal sharpener

Art

  • unlined sketchbook

Technology

  • 1 composition (marble) notebook OR a section in a binder

  • Loose leaf paper

  • Pencils, pens and erasers

Exploration

  • a 2-pocket folder
  • a composition book

Theatre

  • 1 notebook to be kept in class

In addition to required classroom supplies, we depend on donated supplies that are utilized by the entire class.  It would be MUCH appreciated if you could donate at least one item to each content classroom.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!!!
