8th graders have begun their final unit of Exploration at MS447. What a fabulous three years it has been! We are excited for this culminating Service Learning Unit. The Big Idea for the unit is: How can I make connections between my classwork and the real world and apply my knowledge and skills to real world situations? How can I practice civic responsibility and support my community?
Students had the opportunity to choose between 3 different projects: 1. Gowanus Blue Schools, 2. NYC Parks, and 3. Be the Change: hunger and homelessness. Attached you will find rosters for each of the groups. Please determine the service learning group your child is in either by asking them or utilizing the attached rosters and then go onto Sign up Genius and sign up to chaperone one of our many outstanding service opportunities and learning trips. Thanks for your partnership over the past 3 years. (you can also volunteer to chaperone a trip your child is not going on)
