On October 27, 2013 families were treated to a guided tour of the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights to discuss its role in the Anti-Slavery movement and Underground Railroad. It was an amazing opportunity to visit the hidden area of the Church and which was known to be a stop on the Underground Railroad. Plymouth Church played an important role helping transport runaway slaves to freedom before the Civil War.
We were shown an actual piece of Plymouth Rock and were brought down to the basement of the Church. It was a dark, scary place that was where many former slaves hid as they made their journey from the South to freedom. Many thanks to the fantastic guides from Plymouth Church and the families who made it an unforgettable event.
