Exploration: 6th Grade Water Stewardship Unit

Our Water Stewardship Unit is underway. The students have already been amazed by the  Unseen Oceans Exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History.  The remainder of the trips for the unit have now been scheduled.  Please view the trips on the attached calendar and use this SignupGenius link if you would like to chaperone one of the trips.  This unit finds us checking Oysters in our NY City Waterways, testing the water in various spots around the city, participating as Citizen Scientists through bird observation at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Conservancy, visiting the Billion Oyster Project on Governor’s Island and several other exciting excursions.  Please note that on several of the trips (Jamaica Bay, Ridgewood Reservoir, and Governor’s Island)  we ask students and chaperones to bring lunches.  If you are unable to provide a lunch for your child please let their Exploration Homeroom teacher know so that a school lunch can be requested for them.

The unit culminates with a Share Fair of their Water Stewardship Action Plans on June 7 or June 10 and then a trip to Governor’s Island on June 18 or June 19.

We hope to see you there!
