In light of the recent immigration attention in the media, MS 447 reiterates that New York City Department of Education (DOE) and the Mayor’s Office are committed to protecting the right of every student in New York City to attend public school, regardless of immigration status. We are attaching the Chancellor’s Letter on Immigration and resources for families, which is available in nine languages. Many schools, including 447, are in the process of creating an “immigrant liaison” position, a dedicated staff member who can share city immigration resources with students and families. MS 447 staff and students are also founding a “DreamTeam,” a coalition of staff and students who are immigrants, allies, and advocates for our immigrant students.
